Question by tiedyedfam: Does the size of a Tiger Oscar determine sex at all?
I bought my two Oscars at the same time, from the same tank, about 7 months ago. One, that has always been fairly dominating, is about 6 inches long. The other is only about 4 inches. Do you think the difference in their size could indicate their sex? They both eat & the bigger one doesn't get in the way of the other one eating, so I don't think the size difference has anything to do with lack of food due to bullying or anything.

it could be a sex difference or it could be something else
even the water what size tank and how often do you do water changes this can affect growth rate
since your talking young fish it is really hard to say weather it is because of their sexes but it can't be ruled out either
look very close and look for physical differences that could also be an indacation of being different sexes
more frequent water changes could cause both fish to grow faster provided enough food is provided
